Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatches from No. 90, of the 9th ultimo, to No. 100, of the 24th of the same month, with the exception of No. 98, which has not yet come to hand.

Your observations upon the fall of Richmond, and the military events which immediately succeeded the occupation of the insurgent capital, are extremely interesting and instructive.
