The undersigned, Secretary of State of the United States, has the honor to acknowledge the receipt of the note addressed to him by Mr. Tassara on the 18th instant, relative to the alleged shipment from New York of explosive projectiles, supposed to be destined for use in Chili. In reply, the undersigned has the honor to state that the subject of Mr. Tassara’s communication will receive prompt and proper attention.
The undersigned offers to Mr. Tassara, on this occasion, renewed assurances of his highest consideration.
