No. 412.
Mr. Moran to Mr. Evarts.

No. 255.]

Sir: On the receipt of your No. 134, I addressed a note in the sense thereof to Mr. Corvo, a copy of which I inclose, expressing the satisfaction of the Government of the United States with the action of the governor-general of the Cape Verde Islands in providing a new cemetery for the remains of the Americans now lying in the old naval cemetery [Page 903] there, and requested that information of these sentiments of his kindness may be officially communicated to the governor-general in question.

My note was addressed to Mr. Corvo on the 4th of March. But should one come I will immediately forward a copy.

I have, &c.,

BENJAMIN MORAN.
