Sir: I have to acknowledge the receipt of your No. 30 of June 30 last, and the papers therewith, relating the case of E. C. Work, an American citizen residing at San Cárlos, Mexico, who has been convicted of the murder in 1888 of Francisco Cruz, and sentenced to imprisonment for a period exceeding four years, and stating that the matter is now pending before the court of last resort in the state on appeal.

Commending your diligence in the preparation of the statement, I have to say that the case will be held under consideration.
