The British Chargé d’Affaires informs me that the British Red Cross delegate who returned from Berlin on Friday had an interview with Erzberger who begged that the delivering of the railway cars and locomotives be postponed until January for reasons as stated in my 3182, November 23, 8 p.m. As a guarantee of good faith he offered the immediate delivery of 250 million in gold.
