You may make a brief and very courteous reply to statement of Huneeus and may authorize its publication.
If contents of note of Huneeus permits you to do so, you may state in your reply that you are “in cordial agreement with” the ideas expressed. You will also state “the purpose of the Government of the United States has been to assure itself of the cooperation of Chile in the maintenance of peace in South America, and my Government has felt deep appreciation of the assurance of cooperation given it by the Chilean Government.”
