272. My 270, April 4, 10 a.m.24 German Government has today telegraphed to its Paris representative that in view of unexpectedly favorable result of police action in Ruhr district, quiet will be restored in seven days and return of troops, which in small numbers have been sent into neutral zone, will then be possible. It is therefore requested that further action be held up until expiration of that time.
