205. Austrian Government desires to ascertain unofficially whether the American Government would have any objection to Edgar Prochnik as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim as soon as the treaty of peace comes into effect until the definite appointment of a Minister can be made. It is the wish of the Austrian Government to avoid any delay in the resumption of diplomatic relations.¹²

12. This Government having no objection, Mr. Prochnik presented his credentials as Chargé on Dec. 27.
