The Minister in Switzerland (Wilson) to the Secretary of State

[Paraphrase]

43. Department’s 38, March 30, 5 p.m.5 When the customs union between Liechtenstein and Switzerland was set up, the Swiss Government was a party to several treaties which contained the most-favored-nation clause. Several had clauses which, in the case of the customs union, specifically excepted the most-favored-nation clause. All the agreements which the Swiss have negotiated since that date have included a similar proviso.

No Government has ever protested against this arrangement. Dinichert6 gave me this information informally. Shall we proceed to study such treaties in greater detail?
