The Secretary of State to the Greek Minister (Simopoulos)

Sir: I refer to your Note No. 995, dated March 29, 1934, in which you notified the Government of the United States that on account of present difficulties the Greek Government is compelled to postpone, in accordance with the option granted under Clause 2 of Part 1 of the debt funding agreement of May 10, 1929, the payment of bond No. 13, dated January 1, 1928, maturing July 1, 1934, in the principal amount of $150,000.

I am requested by the Secretary of the Treasury to advise you that the United States takes notice of the action of your Government in this connection, and also to advise you that, in accordance with the terms of the agreement, the postponement is for a period of six months from July 1, 1934.
