Despatch 424, May 19, 1936, from Zurich.11 Please collect at once all pertinent facts and such documentary evidence as is available tending to show that a new and special tax has been imposed upon imports of American lard into Switzerland. Telegraph whether in your opinion this tax is in violation of Article I of trade agreement and on what grounds you base your opinion. Upon receipt of this information the Department will instruct you what representations it desires you to make to the Swiss Government.
