Memorandum by the Under Secretary of State ( Welles ) to the Assistant Secretary of State ( Acheson )

Mr. Acheson: The Argentine Ambassador left with me this morning a copy of an aide-mémoire which he left with the Department on May 21 last.29 The Argentine Navy is very anxious to have us grant the request comprised in this memorandum. It is disturbed that we have not yet given any indication of a favorable attitude.
I shall appreciate it if you will have some one in your office follow this through and see what the situation may be.
