566. Reference Department’s cable no. 551, April 28, 8 p.m., and your cable 745 [743] of same date.⁵⁵ It will be satisfactory for Miguel López and his advisers to arrive early in June. Please advise approximate date of arrival as soon as possible. The plan for Ambassador Lleras⁵⁶ to negotiate both propositions is entirely acceptable.

The Department will send you separate instructions authorizing travel to Washington for consultation. It is not foreseeable how long the discussions regarding the agricultural plan may last, and the Department will leave to your decision whether you wish your arrival to coincide with that of Miguel López.
