Bidault’s expressed desire to have General de Gaulle visit the President in “about a month” as reported in your 2956, May 25, has been brought to the attention of the President who wishes you to reiterate to Bidault in the most cordial terms how much he looks forward to seeing General de Gaulle and how much pleasure it would give him to receive the General in Washington, as suggested by Bidault. You should add that although it is difficult for the President at this moment to make a definite commitment as to the date, he hopes soon to be in a position to do so and that a mutually satisfactory date can then be decided on.
