2141. ReEmbs 2454, March 9. The Department requests the Embassy to inform the Foreign Office that the United States Government would appreciate the action of the British Government in giving an assurance to the Turkish Government to the effect that lend-lease items retransferred to the Turkish Government by the British are excluded from the Anglo-Turkish armaments credit, and that whatever obligation arises from such deliveries represents a direct obligation by the Turks to the United States Government.35
