I also brought up matter of the lend-lease settlement, pointing out that failure of the Soviet Govt to reply to our repeated overtures was [Page 658] becoming embarrassing to us. I stressed importance of beginning these discussions and continuing them, even though they are protracted. Vyshinski1 assured me that he would follow this through personally.
