84. Joint Brazilian United States Military Commission has effected actual transfer strategic airport installations to Brazilian Air Force. [Page 407] They now request that official acceptance these installations be obtained by Embassy from Brazilian Govt. Dept may wish to instruct Embassy regarding wording of exchange of notes officially recording transfer of title these properties in view other related considerations, such as nature of rights of Pan-American Airways to use airports, concerning which Embassy does not have detailed information.32
- In instruction 505, February 10, the Department enclosed a draft note indicating withdrawal of the United States Forces from 13 airports and the transfer to Brazil of installations, facilities, and inventories (811.24532/1–2947). The withdrawal was formally recognized in an exchange of notes March 13 and 31 (811.24532/4–1647).↩
