253. Editorial Note

Prime Minister Harold Macmillan visited Athens August 7–9 for talks with Karamanlis and Averoff on the future of Cyprus. Macmillan then flew to Ankara where he met with Menderes and Zorlu on August 9 and 10 for further discussions on Cyprus. On August 11, Macmillan flew to Cyprus to meet with British administrators and representatives of the Greek and Turkish communities.
