  • Economic Support for Newly-Independent Areas

The record of action of the NSC meeting of February 9, 19611 shows in Paragraph 3. b. that the President has approved revision of NSC policies along the lines recommended by the Secretary of State to provide flexibility for the United States to supplement Western European support to newly-independent areas whenever such action is in the United States interest. In my judgment, this action constitutes a revision of the applicable policies, but if new language is desired in all the appropriate documents, we will expect to receive it from the Department of State.
