Mr. Baxter to Mr. Fish.
Tegucigalpa, Honduras, March 11, 1872. (Received April 2.)
Sir: I have the honor to inclose a copy of treaty made by the government of Honduras with the insurgent leaders of the Indian faction that had for some time been disturbing the peace of the country and committing serious depredations, (of which I have heretofore made mention,) and since said treaty there has been internal quiet.
I also forward the message of President Medina to Congress on its convening at Comayagua on February 9. There are still many rumors of a possible war between Honduras and Salvador; but it is the prevailing opinion that there will be a peaceful solution of all questions of differences, and that amicable relations may be maintained.
