Constantinople, December 16, 1895.

Mr. Dwight now says all missionaries in the interior will be sacrificed unless united Christian powers intervene to stop massacre. I have no hope of European concert. Mr. Dwight has written missionary boards. Tell them I can get vessels to take their friends to Christian ports. If men wish to remain, I will get escort for all to seacoast, and men can return; but women and children should visit America. Observe, I gave no advice, but state facts.
