Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 14th instant, in which you communicate to the department your Government’s expression of its appreciation of the sincere sympathy and friendly sentiments of the United States, as manifested in its choice of its ambassador extraordinary to the Argentine centennial celebration and in its important naval representation on that occasion.

Agreeably to your request, I have taken pleasure in conveying to the President your Government’s acknowledgments and expressions of appreciation.

The department is gratified to learn of your Government’s satisfaction with the part taken by the United States in the celebration of this auspicious occasion and to reiterate this Government’s sincere pleasure in having had this opportunity to express its recognition of the heroism of the founders of Argentine independence, its admiration of the wonderful progress of the Argentine Republic during its first century, and its cordial reciprocation of the regard of your great and friendly nation.
