Your announcement of the death of His Imperial Highness the Regent has been received by me with great regret. Accept an expression of my sympathy.

The President has by telegraph conveyed his condolence to His Imperial Majesty the Shah, and the Secretary of State has also telegraphed in the same sense to the minister of foreign affairs of Persia.
