Excellency: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 16th instant, by which you advise the Department that Col, Manuel Tamborrell, commanding your Government’s forces at Ciudad Juarez, states in an official report that about February 7 several groups of persons on the American side of the Rio Grande near that city fired on the command of Lieut. Col. Manuel G. Pueblita of the Mexican Army.

Copies of your note have been sent to the War Department and the Department of Justice for their information and for appropriate action by the Attorney General.
