Excellency: In further reply to Mr. Pereyra’s note of March 26 last, quoting a report from the governor of Sonora that armed bands were invading that State from its northern boundary, I have the honor to inclose herewith a copy of a letter from the Attorney General, transmitting one from the United States attorney for Arizona in relation to the matter.

Sir: I beg to hand you a copy of a letter1 just received from the United States attorney for the Territory of Arizona, replying to a communication from this Department, transmitting to him a copy of a note from the Mexican embassy, stating that the governor of Sonora had reported that armed bands had invaded that State from its northern boundary, and requesting that steps be taken to prevent such expedition.
