In further reply to the memorandum of the Embassy of Mexico, of the 8th ultimo, in regard to the molestation of a Mexican courier while carrying funds for Gen. Luque from Marfa to Presidio, the Department of State has the honor to inclose for the embassy’s information a copy of the letter from the governor of Texas,¹ stating that he has sent to the sheriff of Presidio County copies of the correspondence in relation to the matter, and instructions to give protection to the agents of the Mexican Government.
