Peruvian Minister here informed me that the Brazilian Minister for Foreign Affairs yesterday agreed to telegraph Brazilian Minister at La Paz to exercise good offices with a view to allaying the feeling over Peruvian occupation of the headwaters of the Manuripe.1 He stated also that as a result of the mediation of the Brazilian Minister for Foreign Affairs an early settlement is looked for of the Tacna-Arica question.
