British steamer Lucy Andersen, Hartlepool to Göteborg with coal, sunk 60 miles north Rattray Head, March 12, gunfire two submarines. No evidence nationality, no warning, ship did not resist or attempt escape but was shelled continuously while crew took boats and rowed away, no measures safety crew. No passengers, crew of 18 uninjured. After 4 hours in boats picked up and landed Aberdeen next day. Porto Rican, Placido Dearce, aboard as cook.
