Consul Dawson telegraphed April 229 that rebel attack upon Tuxpam April 21 was unsuccessful, but that consular agent has requested protection as situation considered critical. Dawson added that senior American naval officer at Tampico has ordered destroyer Thornton to proceed to Tuxpam.
