The Chargé in China (Bell) to the Secretary of State

383. Marshal Wu Pei-fu left Peking early this morning to direct operations at the northern front. Colonel Barnard and Captain Woodbridge¹¹ accompanied him as observers at his invitation. British, French and Japanese officers also accompanied Wu in like capacity.
