79. President resigned and is still in Moneda. Already he has requested asylum for his son-in-law and family and I have replied that I cannot admit them to the Embassy unless they are threatened with physical violence and then only temporarily. Civilian junta is forming. Tension has been removed and there is public rejoicing throughout the city.
