31. Department’s 29, March 6, 1 p.m. At the press conference today a correspondent inquired whether the Under Secretary had any comments to make on the mock trial entitled “Hitler versus Civilization” held at the Madison Square Garden last night.
Mr. Phillips replied that he had no comment other than to re-emphasize the private nature of the gathering and that no member of the Administration was present. Anything that was said therefore represented the personal views of the individual speakers.
