The German Ambassador (Luther) to the Secretary of State
My Dear Mr. Secretary: In pursuance to our conversation of yesterday and in compliance with your request I beg to give you the information concerning the membership of members of the National Socialist Party in the Association of the “Friends of the New Germany” as follows:
The Foreign Department of the National Socialist Party has, according to this information, definitely forbidden its members to belong to the “Association of the Friends of the New Germany” (Bund der Freunde des Neuen Deutschland), which is not an organization recognized by the Party. Each member of the Party residing in the United States will receive by mail a circular letter containing the request to immediately notify the Foreign Department of the National Socialist Party of his resignation from the Association of the Friends of the New Germany. The circular letter emphasizes furthermore that there is no branch of the National Socialist Party in existence in the United States and that members of the party are strictly forbidden to make propaganda among Non-Germans.
