I brought pertinent facts today to the attention of the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs who assured me of cooperation of Foreign [Page 692] Office in discouraging sensational discussion and expressed appreciation of Department’s efforts.
2.
There appears as yet to have been no sensational or agitated comments in the Japanese press which has in general confined itself to a mere report of the facts.
