I believe your analysis and decision to be thoroughly sound. My views have not changed and they coincide with those expressed in your telegram.

Last week Craigie, who is in the mountains, telephoned that he must see me before his appointment with the Foreign Minister which is scheduled for Wednesday, August 17. Craigie is to return to Tokyo today and I therefore expect to see him tomorrow. In our conversation I shall be carefully guided by your instructions.
