Sir: At the instance of His Majesty’s Government in New Zealand, and under instructions from His Majesty’s Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, I have the honour to inform you, with reference to the expedition which Admiral Richard E. Byrd is about to lead to the Antarctic, that His Majesty’s Government in New Zealand will be pleased to afford Admiral Byrd’s expedition facilities to establish a base in the Ross Dependency, if this should be desired.3

2. I should be grateful if this information could be conveyed to Admiral Byrd.
