His pronounced support of Falange has been especially noticeable during recent weeks and probably represents an effort to maintain balance between army on one hand and Falange on the other. Lack of popular support of Falange has been particularly noticeable since our occupation of French North Africa which has emboldened liberal and other elements opposed to Falange and to the regime. Reaction of leftist elements has given particular concern to Government and to all conservative elements including the army.
