—No minutes of this conversation have been found. The conversation and the subject discussed are referred to, however, in the following memorandum of July 24 (in the Truman Papers) by Captain James K. Vardaman, Jr., Naval Aide to the President:

“Remind the President Wednesday morning to write a letter to Mr. Churchill and send him a copy of telegram despatched to Generalissimo Chiang Kai Shek and also copy of revised Lend Lease document read to Churchill by Leahy on the porch this morning.”1
