3711. Limit distribution. In connection with Embassy telegram 3710,1 Bidault told me that he is more convinced than ever that Soviets very much desire a cease-fire and truce in Indochina because of their deep concern of possible action by Chinese if fighting continues.
He said that Vinogradov2 came to see him again and literally pleaded with him to arrange a truce with Ho Chi-minh, saying that fighting in Indochina simply must stop.
