Brazilian President-elect Kubitschek arrived in the United States on January 5, 1956, beginning a 6-day unofficial visit. He met first with President Eisenhower at Key West, Florida, on the morning of January 5 and traveled to Washington later that day for a series of meetings with United States officials.
