The Secretary of State to the Mexican Ambassador.

Referring to the memorandum of the Embassy of Mexico of the 9th instant, stating that on the 7th of this month four volleys were fired at soldiers of Gen. Luque from behind breastworks on territory of the United States, the Department of State has the honor to say that it is advised by the Department of Justice that the United States marshal for the western district of Texas has been instructed to report in regard to the matter.
