Excellency: Referring to Mr. Pereyra’s note of the 9th instant, communicating to the Department a report that men and war material were constantly passing from El Paso to Guadalupe, I have the honor to inform you that the Department is advised by the Attorney General that he is transmitting a copy of Mr. Pereyra’s note to the United States attorney and the United States marshal in the district in which El Paso is situated.
The Attorney General adds that the suggestion contained in the note is not confirmed by the information which he has been receiving from his department’s agents on the border.
