The Secretary of State to the Swiss Minister (Peter)

Sir: With reference to the proposed trade agreement negotiations between the American Government and the Swiss Government, I have the honor to attach hereto for transmission to your Government a list of products exported from the United States,7 on which concessions are requested by the American Government. It is understood that a list of products on which concessions are desired of the United States by your Government will be handed today to the American Minister at Berne by the appropriate Swiss authorities.8 The general provisions of the proposed agreement to be suggested by the American Government have already been submitted informally to you.

It is my hope that following this exchange of desiderata between the two Governments early discussions may take place looking to the conclusion of a mutually satisfactory trade agreement.
