The Greek Legation to the Department of State

The Greek Government is very much concerned with the question of the reinforcement of its air forces and it feels the necessity of taking proper measures to face not only the present necessities but also other unforeseen developments which might arise in the near future from the situation in the Near East.

After a careful examination of the offer made in regard to the “Defiance” [Defiant] planes, the Greek Government came to the conclusion that these planes are not suitable and that Curtiss P–40 are the adequate ones. Their shipment should be hastened in order that they could reach Greece in time.

Therefore, the Greek Government want to renew their urgent appeal to the United States Government hoping that the latter will fully realize Greece’s situation and bring the question to a satisfactory conclusion.
