641. Chinese Military Intelligence reports that the long anticipated drive to neutralize the advance Allied air base at Chihkiang in western Hunan (Embassy’s 633, April 14, 4 p.m.) is under way, Jap troops in force from Changsha–Hengyang area having started a broad westerly movement as of April 15.
Same source indicates that Jap drive toward Sian has halted, perhaps only temporarily.
