Minister to the Vatican

The President stated that he had discussed with Secretary Acheson before he left1 the possibility of sending Mr. Allen W. Dulles as Minister to the Vatican. The President feels that the time has now come to bring this matter to a conclusion and would like to proceed expeditiously with this appointment; in fact, if you agree he would like the papers sent over and he will move forward with it.
